VxRail 7.0.000 includes VMware vSphere 7 as well as new features.

Note: VxRail 7.0.00 is a new generation of VxRail HCI System Software. Existing customers of VxRail 4.7.x, 4.5.x, or 4.0.x should carefully review the considerations and restrictions described throughout this release note before attempting to upgrade to VxRail 7.0.000

VMware vSphere 7

VMware vSphere 7, the new generation of vSphere, addresses key challenges faced by vSphere administrators in the areas of lifecycle management, security, and performance and resiliency needed by business-critical applications, AI/ML applications, and latency sensitive applications.

Note: VMware vSphere 7 Lifecycle Management (vLCM, formerly called VMware Update manager or VUM) is disabled in vCenter to ensure VxRail clusters are only updated using the VxRail HCI System Software lifecycle management functionality. VxRail LCM provides a robust process to upgrade your VxRail clusters with more comprehensive features than VMware vLCM.

New features

VxRail 7.0.000 adds the following new feature:

  • Supports NSX-T on VxRail for systems with two network ports.

Key differences

VxRail 7.0.000 differs from previous versions of VxRail HCI System Software, and from standard vSphere 7 deployments. Some key differences are:

  • VMware vLCM is not supported, and is disabled in vCenter.
  • Internet upgrades to VxRail 7.0.000 are not supported. Only local upgrades are supported. Users must use the Dell EMC SolVe procedure generator to execute the upgrade.
  • VxRail appliances based on the Quanta hardware platform are not supported for VxRail 7.0.000.
