This article provides information on how to restore the default configuration of a ME4 array.

There are three types of wipe put the ME4 series.
  1. Restore default no prompt
  2. Restore default
    WARNING: Default settings will be restored to the controllers and then the Management Controllers will restart. Changes to host interface settings may cause loss of data availability and require reconfiguration to restore host access to volumes.
  3. Restore default factory - not described in this article
    WARNING: ALL configuration for this controller will be ERASED. This is intended for engineer use only. The management Controller will restart once this is completed.
NOTE: Before you run the above commands, ensure you take complete data backup as it will crucial storage information and data.
NOTE: Ensure you gather complete storage logs before proceeding in case you want to reference previous configuration information.

Steps to Restore Default

Connect the serial cable to any controller and log in with credentials.

Restore Default No Prompt

Run the command # restore default nopromp.
The following is the example screen:

Info: The Storage Controllers were reset to default settings.
Info: Applying persisted defaults ...
Success: Command completed successfully. - Default configuration was restored. The MC will restart in approximately 60 seconds ...

Restore Default

Run the command # restore default.
WARNING: Default settings will be restored to the controllers and then the Management Controllers will restart. Changes to host interface settings may cause loss of data availability and require some reconfiguration to restore host access to volumes.
The following is the example screen:

NOTE: Wait for 60 seconds, afterward both controller start rebooting.
Use the default credentials to log in the array. For example: manage/!manage.
