Instructions | From VxRail 4.0.200, the upgrade process handles external storage (iSCSI) and should not fail because of this. Below instruction applies to VxRail release earlier than 4.0.200. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This process demonstrates the procedure and assumes ALL nodes are connected to external storage.- Put the first node in maintenance mode and evacuate all of the VM s to other nodes.
- Disable the external storage on that node only.
- If you have started the upgrade already hit the retry button.
- If you have NOT started the upgrade, start it up and run it until it fails on the next node.
- At this point the upgrade should have failed on the NEXT node. Take the last node you worked on OUT of maintenance mode and let the VM s migrate back to that node.
- Put the next node in maintenance mode.
- Go back to step 2 and repeat until all nodes are done.
Once you finish the last node in the cluster the process should complete successfully.
Here is an example of one way to disconnect external storage:Remove the iSCSI connections and bindings. Reboot. Upgrade. |
