Issue | VxRail upgrade failed due to timeout unable to place node in maintenance mode When upgrading VxRail cluster some of the nodes were not going into maintenance mode. |
Cause | VSAN errors |
Resolution | Use vSphere Web Client to check the health of the VSAN. This is required to see most of the VSAN health. https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.0/com.vmware.vsphere.virtualsan.doc/GUID-68CDE86F-C5A7-4B3E-9DA8-BD8165D3A9AF.html Once we checked that there were a few issues. 1. VSAN HCL Database needed updating and was in Error. Updated online. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2109870 2. VSAN Performance Object was disabled and in Warning. Enabled that. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2145179 3. Node 1 VSAN vendor provider registration/unregistration was failing. Restarted the Vasaprovider service and refreshed it in vSphere web client and all worked. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2109894 |
