VxRail upgrade failed due to timeout unable to place node in maintenance mode

When upgrading VxRail cluster some of the nodes were not going into maintenance mode.
Cause
VSAN errors
Resolution
Use vSphere Web Client to check the health of the VSAN. This is required to see most of the VSAN health.

Once we checked that there were a few issues.
1. VSAN HCL Database needed updating and was in Error. Updated online. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2109870
2. VSAN Performance Object was disabled and in Warning. Enabled that. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2145179
3. Node 1 VSAN vendor provider registration/unregistration was failing. Restarted the Vasaprovider service and refreshed it in vSphere web client and all worked. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2109894
