Instructions | In cases where the LCM upgrade to VxRail 7.0.000 fails at the step of upgrading vCenter, and it is necessary to rollback instead of retry, it cannot be done by simply powering off the new vCenter and powering on the old one, as log in fails with "503 Service Unavailable" error similar to the below or you may not be able to connect at all:
How to roll back to the old vCenter version:
Power off the newly deployed vCenter Virtual Machine (VM). Find the ESXi host on which the old vCenter and PSC VMs were running on. Revert vCenter and PSC to the last snapshot, and power them on. Ping the IP address of the vCenter. If it times out, log in to vCenter using SSH as root, and run command:
/sbin/services.sh restart . Wait until all services are restarted. - Ping the IP address of vCenter. If the IP address is reachable, but are unable to access the web GUI:
- Access the URL of https://<vcenter-ip>:5480 in a web browser. Expect to see the following page:
Click the "Set up vCenter Sever Appliance" link. Log in using root account. Expect to see the following page:
Click "NEXT". Input vCenter administrator account information and click "FINISH".
- After Validation is finished, vCenter web GUI should be accessible.

Notes | A snapshot is taken for VC/PSC before actually upgrading VC/PSC. The snapshot is taken without memory, so special steps are needed to fully restore the services. |
