Avamar Linux client installation

 

 

  1. Download Linux client plugin from https://AVAMARSERVER/dtlt/home.html

 

  1. Move that client package through winsp to following path /usr/local/avamar/bin

 

 

  1. Before installing plugins test the connectivity form Avamar server to Avamar client and vice versa (ping serverIP or FQDN)

 

  1. Now login to Avamar client and got to installation path (/usr/local/avamar/bin) and run below command

 

rpm -ih packagename

               for ubuntu OS run below command

               dpkg -i package

 

  1. Once the plugin installation completed start registration and activation.

 

Go to /usr/local/avamar/bin/

 

Run ./avregister

 

Type the DNS name of the Avamar server and press Enter. The output prompts you to specify the Avamar domain for the client. The default domain is clients. Do not use a slash (/) as the first character when you type a subdomain. If you use a slash, an error occurs and you cannot register the client.

 

To accept the default domain (clients), press Enter. The output indicates that the activation is successful and registration is complete.

 

  1. Now refresh the Avamar server you will find the New client in added domain.

 

  1. Add the client to existing or new policy and test the backup.
